EnergyMed2005: THE IDEA
EnergyMed2005 is a fair designed for companies, local authorities and the general public of Mediterranean countries, a geographical area with an enormous potential for development.

The aim of EnergyMed2005 is to:
· provide an appropriate tool for the promotion of trade;
· raise the general level of awareness among the public and of publicity in the media;
· be a regular opportunity for the authorities, businessmen and associations working in the sector to meet and exchange ideas;
· create a fixed point of reference for the professional and research community

Energy issues are attracting more and more attention at both national and international levels as they are considered fundamental to the solution of economic and environmental problems.

The law for the production of electricity from renewable sources (decree n° 387/03) has recently been passed in Italy; the laws on energy efficiency are about to come into force; the European directive 91/02 on energy performance in buildings is to be adopted; the growing cost of energy derived from oil stresses the need for a greater use of novel sources and highly-efficient technologies.

EnergyMed2005, together with the stakeholders of this field – companies, public authorities, technicians – intends to play an active role in building, today, a sustainable energy scenario in Italy and Mediterranean countries, a geographical area with a strong potential development of renewable energies.

Thanks to EnergyMed2005, Naples and its Region aim at becoming the hub of Mediterranean basin for the promotion of renewable sources and energy efficiency.

· Presentation of state-of-the-art technologies in the field of renewables and energy efficiency
· Promotion of companies and market actors at an international level
· Involvement of the Mediterranean agencies and organizations in the promotion of national and international trade
· Active role of both local and national governments
