ENERGYMED2005: THE FIRST ZERO-EMISSION EXHIBITION/CONFERENCE IN THE MEDITERRANEAN
EnergyMed2005 cancels its emission of polluting gases
into the atmosphere. The 2005 energy event has, in fact, decided to neutralize
the load of pollutants it will discharge into the atmosphere on 14th,
15th and 16th April. It is the first time that anything of this kind has
been done, not only in Naples but also in Southern Italy.
After calculating the quantity of carbon dioxide produced from heating/cooling
the exhibition rooms at the Mostra d’Oltremare which will host the fair,
that from the fuel used by exhibitors, delegations and visitors who will
travel to and from the Mostra d’Oltremare, as well as the total amount
of electricity used during the event, EnergyMed2005 and
AzzeroCO2 will promote a series of activities designed to save energy,
produce energy from renewable sources, and plant trees in order to avoid
the emission of an equivalent quantity of climate-altering gases. The
emissions “saved” are counted in credits which can be bought or sold,
according to the mechanism established by the Kyoto Protocol.
